Airplane cabins aren’t exactly known for being relaxing. Tight seats. Overhead bins slamming. Someone always coughing three rows back. But none of it bothers Merlot. This cutie has a fluffy passport and travels more than most people.
Some people, however, are not fans of dogs in the cabin. But @merlotthegoldie’s recent video shows that this Golden Retriever is the opposite of a disruptive traveler on a plane. Merlot is interested in only one thing — napping. He makes flying look like the easiest thing in the world. He just sits there being chill. And it is the best way to travel.

The clip starts right in the middle of the cabin. Merlot’s human is filming while he sleeps. The dog is tucked into the footwell of the aisle seat, with his face pressed against his owner’s leg. He looks completely out of it, and it is impressive how calm he is. He is a frequent flyer, and the background noise is probably fine to him.
He barely opens his eyes. Then he just checks on his person once before drifting back off. It quickly becomes obvious that this isn’t his first trip. Previously, we have seen him watching the safety demonstration very seriously. He even flew business class once. But on this flight, he was focused on resting.
The owner said he was “quiet. trained. asleep.” And the video really shows how well-behaved a Golden Retriever can be during plane travel. Moreover, they are very people-oriented dogs. They just want to be near their human. Even when they are at 30,000 feet in the air. The post has over 2,600 likes. The comments are excited. One person would gladly sit next to him. Another mentioned that all pets should be in the cabin.
His owner made a funny point, too. They mentioned how this is what people worry about on a plane. Just a quiet, sleeping pup. “Perfect angel,” another viewer wrote. He is not bothered by the altitude. Or the cramped legroom. He is just there for the ride.
