Dogs usually follow every generic command like eat, fetch, run, and so on. But it seems this Shiba Inu is not familiar with the command sit, as she fails to follow it when asked. To prove this, the owner of Gunner’s pet account, who was dog-sitting their friend’s pet, captured the confused state of the pup and uploaded the video on social media, drawing various reactions from netizens.

Dogs usually learn to follow commands for rewards such as praise or treats. They even learn to associate with specific sounds or hand gestures to form a strong social bonding with their human companion. But it seems this cute red Shiba Inu named Hachi does not know how to follow commands, at least from the dog sitter.
To prove this, the dog sitter, a friend of Hachi’s parents, recorded the pup’s confused state and uploaded it on @gunner.shiba. The clip shows the dog sitter commanding the dog to sit, but instead of following the command, the pooch looks at her with amusement, as if not able to comprehend what the sitter is saying.
Looking at Hachi’s reaction, even the dog sitter wonders, “What would be your command?” before trying another round with “different tones and hand gestures.” But all her attempts go in vain, as the Shiba Inu does not sit even once. Hachi instead licks the hand and stares at the dog sitter.
While Hachi fails to understand the command, Gunner’s, who is the dog sitter’s pet, facial expression changes every time, leaving her laughing. Talking about this situation, the dog sitter shares in the caption that “Hachi is a visitor at our house. She’s seemingly not able to understand my ‘sit’ command how’s this possible? lol.”
Seeing the dog sitter “repeat the command SIT about a thousand times for Hachi” and the pup’s reaction, netizens came up with many hilarious suggestions, with one saying, “Maybe you should try a different language.” Another dog lover mentioned, “She does, she probably just doesn’t care to do it.” While one pet parent shared a similar experience and mentioned, “Our shiba did the same. She knew the command, she just wouldn’t do it. It was beneath her to obey commands from a person that wasn’t her ‘alpha (my dad).’”
