A rescued pup named Cactus turns a normal walk into a tiny rescue mission after finding an injured bird on the street. In a two-part Instagram video from @cactustherescue, Cactus and his dad, Michael Henry, notice the baby bird lying on the ground. The clip shows how the dog parent brings the bird, whom he names “Twig,” home, keeps him safe, and later gets him to a wildlife rehab in Miami.

The first video begins with Cactus spotting the injured bird near the sidewalk. His dad, Michael Henry, says the bird could barely move, so he checks the area for a nest or the mother. He does not find either one. The caption adds that the bird’s legs were not working, bugs were on him, and leaving him there would likely not end well.
Michael then tells the rescue dog, “Don’t be mean to him,” as Cactus watches closely. He uses a twig to gently flip the baby bird over, then goes back for a shoebox. The box has small holes, and Michael places tissues inside before carrying the bird home.
Once inside, Michael follows basic emergency care advice and keeps the bird in a dark, warm, quiet place. He also jokes that the bird has to rest in the garage because he does not trust Cactus around him yet.
The second video shows the tiny patient, later called Twig, looking more alert after a few hours of rest. Michael gives Twig water with a Q-tip, cleans him gently with another Q-tip, and lets him rest overnight. By morning, the bird looks active and hungry. Michael tries a small piece of unseasoned cooked chicken, and Twig eats it.
The best update arrives when a wildlife rehab place agrees to take Twig. Michael drives him there in a shoebox, calling him “riding shotgun.” At the rehab, staff identify Twig as a blue jay, giving the injured bird a real chance to recover. Viewers praised both Cactus and Michael. One comment read, “I love how sweet you are to all the creatures involved.” Others wrote, “Cactus is such a good boy!” and “Awww hope that baby is ok.”
