Mason barely gets down on one knee before his 9-year-old Dachshund is all over him. The account @itsmasonandrews posted the sweet reunion, including the moment he admits he was scared she might forget him. Instead, she looks thrilled to see her dad. He starts crying when she jumps up to kiss him, and once she is in his arms, she stays there. The kisses continue at home, too.

Nearly a year is a very long time to wait for someone you love. For Mason and his Dachshund, the reunion finally happens at a reception area, and she has a lot of feelings about it. Mason kneels down as soon as he sees her. The text on the video reads, “Reunited with the love of my life after almost a year.”
She is already wriggling before he can get properly close. Her tail is wagging, her whole little body is vibrating with happiness, and she starts kissing him almost immediately. Another bit of text reads, “I was afraid she would forget me.” But he needn’t have worried at all. The next message is written from the dog’s point of view: “Is it really you?!”
A few seconds later, she jumps up to kiss him, and Mason starts crying. He picks her up and holds her close, kissing her while she settles happily into his arms. People walking past smile when they notice what is happening. It is a lovely little scene in the middle of a busy public place, but the reunion is clearly much bigger for the two people involved.
The video has earned 47,500 likes, with viewers getting emotional right along with him. One Dachshund owner said their dog would recognize them even after five years. Another pointed out that “the tail never lies,” while someone else said their own four-night trips away feel like an eternity.
The best part is that the reunion does not end there. Back home, the kisses keep coming, and she gets to have her favorite person where she wants him.
