You might expect a dog to run away from thunder, lightning, and pouring rain. Apparently, nobody explained that to Gumbo. While most pets would happily retreat indoors during a storm, this Beagle was far more upset about leaving the backyard than the weather itself. His hilarious reaction was recently captured in an Instagram video shared by his owners on @bubba.and.gumbo.
Dog gives ‘dramatic’ reaction after owners make him come inside during thunderstorm
The clip begins with Gumbo already in the middle of a full protest. According to the owner, heavy rain and thunder had started outside, prompting the family to call the Beagle indoors. While many dogs are known to fear storms, Gumbo appeared to feel the complete opposite.
As the video continues, the Beagle can be heard making a mix of growls, grumbles, and drawn-out howls while staring toward his owners. At several points, he appears to pause just long enough to check whether anyone is still paying attention before continuing his complaints again.
The on-screen text read, “In case you were wondering how dramatic beagles are, this is Gumbo after we made him come inside during a thunderstorm.” In the caption, the owner also joked about life with the breed, writing that “it’s always something.”
Many people said the dog’s behavior reminded them of their own pets and the exaggerated reactions they give when things do not go their way. One commenter joked, “Keeps looking over at you to make sure your still watching,” pointing out the Beagle’s perfectly timed looks toward the camera. Another viewer wrote, “What a sweet little voice he has! Such a goof!” Others focused on how committed Gumbo seemed to expressing his disappointment.
