Healing from deep trauma isn’t a straight line, and rescue pets often need a little extra time. And a beautiful pup living in Chicago is busy showing the internet what true resilience looks like. The Instagram page @lexlikestofoster regularly shares updates on her heartwarming progress. This sweet rescue dog has spent over three months adjusting to life inside a comfortable foster home. However, sometimes she still gets a little startled when people approach her. Thankfully, her amazing foster mom knows exactly how to reassure her with love.

Rescue dog needs gentle reminders that she is finally safe in her foster home

The video begins with Lex walking down a hallway while filming. As she enters the living room, she sees Fiona resting on a sofa next to her resident dog, Stanley. When Fiona notices someone approaching, she appears to tense up and move her head uncertainly. The video suggests this behavior may be linked to experiences from her life before being rescued. Lex then softly says, “hi guys” to the dogs. Stanley immediately begins wagging his tail. Fiona then appears to relax, gives a tentative tail wag, and tilts her head.

Fiona has made significant progress since arriving at the foster home. According to the post, volunteers found her tied outside a Chicago municipal shelter. She was injured, underweight, missing patches of fur, and appeared frightened. The post states that it took workers more than three hours to bring her inside.

Lex never expected this rescue dog to thrive so much in her foster home, but now she is completely obsessed with Stanley and follows him everywhere. She even attempts to play with the household cats.

She used to fear every single sound in the world. Now she happily strolls along the busy 606 pedestrian path and explores local parks. Every milestone is a big win for a rescue dog adjusting to a new foster home, and Lex just loves baby-talking her back to life.

The emotional clip earned 831 likes from supportive fans. One viewer commented that they love her sweet face and feel incredibly grateful she is safe. Fiona is currently waiting for her perfect forever family to come snatch her up via @darkhorsedogs. But until then, she has plenty of cozy couch cushions to share with Stanley.
