Finding someone who makes the world feel a little less overwhelming can change everything, even if that someone happens to have four legs and a whole lot more height. In the sweetest video shared by @ginormouschicken, one shy shelter puppy named Bear has found just that in Chicken, a big emotional support dog who never seems to mind becoming his favorite hiding spot.

It’s adorable and reassuring to watch the pair move through the shelter together. Especially because Chicken lets Bear decide how close he needs to stay while he builds confidence at his own pace.

The video begins in a shelter hallway with Chicken standing beside a volunteer while little Bear tucks himself right underneath her. On-screen text introduces him as an introvert who needs a little extra support, and it doesn’t take long to see exactly what that means.

As they continue down the corridor, Bear never strays far. Sometimes he simply stands beneath Chicken. Other times, he settles down underneath her, using her as a tent where he clearly feels the safest. The gentle Irish Wolfhound checks on him often, never rushing him or trying to pull him out of his comfort zone.

One especially sweet moment shows Bear walking directly beneath Chicken as she carefully matches his pace. When shelter staff stop to greet them, they pet Chicken first while Bear quietly peeks out from underneath her to sniff an outstretched hand.

The video then cuts to the shelter yard, where the two dogs happily chase each other around. It’s lovely to see that underneath all that shyness is still a playful puppy waiting to come out. According to the caption, Bear was due to become available for adoption the very next day, while Chicken, who regularly helps shy puppies at the MSPCA, would soon be helping another youngster find their confidence.

The heartwarming clip has already earned more than 32,700 likes, with viewers admitting they wished they had a Chicken of their own.
