Babydoll has had 368 days to get tired of waiting, yet somehow the rescue dog still greets people at the shelter with the biggest smile. The video shared by @cassondrachristman flips between the day she first arrived and the happy eight-year-old she is now. The difference is hard to miss — except for one thing. Babydoll’s tail is still wagging, whether she’s heading out for an adventure, carrying around her favorite toy, or simply hoping someone will stop by her kennel.

Rescue dog’s life wasn’t easy when she first came to the shelter, but she never stopped smiling

The video opens with Babydoll looking absolutely pleased with herself in a little pink frill dress. She’s standing outside and smiling at the camera. But the on-screen text quickly adds the sad part: she’s been waiting for 368 days.

And then we are taken back to the Babydoll’s first day at the shelter. She had tear marks running down her face and a bleeding nose. She looked rough, but the moment someone came over to help, her tail started wagging.

Another clip shows her accepting scritches from a volunteer while the text says she was still smiling through it all.

More than a year later, not much has changed about Babydoll’s attitude. She’s still happy when someone stops by her kennel. And she’s still ready to get out and do something whenever the opportunity comes up.

She’s even had plenty of adventures along the way. Babydoll has appeared on the news, slept in office chairs, and gone on outings with Cassondra. She’s happily ridden around in the car looking out at the world.

The rescue dog is eight now, though, and one question keeps hanging over the video: “Why has no one wanted her?” Back at the shelter, Babydoll picks up her toys and carries them back to her bed. She’s potty trained, crate trained, and house trained.

She has also done wonderfully in foster homes, including being comfortable staying home while her foster family was at work.

According to Cassondra’s post, Babydoll is great with people but needs to meet any dogs already in a potential home first. She also has a prey drive around cats and small animals, so a home without them would be the better fit. The video has already passed 1,000 likes in six hours of being posted.
