A recent video, uploaded by @seniorboybruce, shows Bruce relaxing on a bed while making his distinctive sounds. The senior dog now appears comfortable and even seems to wait for his family to celebrate his efforts. His transformation marks a huge change from the behavior his family saw when they first brought him home. According to his owner, Bruce previously “went from never making a sound” to happily making noises almost every day.
The Golden Retriever, as per the video, once looked anxiously at his family whenever he made a sound. Now, he expects praise, attention, and reassurance. Bruce spent more than eight years in a puppy mill, where his family says people tried to silence him. That long period appears to have left him fearful of expressing himself, even after he finally reached a safe home.
Each “woo” helps Bruce learn that he can communicate and be himself without fear of punishment. His owner captured the change, saying Bruce went from fearing his family’s reaction to eagerly awaiting their praise. “The puppy mill that held him prisoner tried to silence him for over 8 years…but never again,” his owner wrote. “Your voice deserves to be heard, Bruce.”
