Mazikeen’s eyes have already figured out that something is wrong when this Instagram video starts. In it, the unsure-looking dog sits in the middle of the living room, her ears pulled back and her eyes wide. She’s looking at dad while trying to decide whether the treat in his hand is worth whatever comes next.
@zakiyathedobie captured the Doberman‘s hilarious expression, and the caption says it all: “pure fear in those eyes LOL.” And that’s because she can hear the bath water running somewhere nearby. It is obvious from the first frame that this dog is suspicious of baths and wants everyone to know it.
Dog gets suspicious when dad offers treats while running a bath
The video opens with Mazikeen sitting squarely in the living room. Her ears are pulled back into full “airplane mode,” and her eyes keep moving between Dad and the person filming. The text on the video explains the problem: “POV: Dad is calling me and is waving around a treat but I also hear the bath water running.” That is quite the dilemma.
Mazikeen does not look ready to make any decisions just yet. She keeps staring toward dad with an expression that says the treat is tempting, but the bath is a serious concern. Right behind her, her Doberman sibling Zakiya seems much less bothered. She sniffs around the room, checks out the camera, and even wanders closer for a look while Mazikeen is still deciding if the treat is worth the risk.
The whole thing is especially funny because Mazikeen has not done anything dramatic. She simply sits there, ears back, eyes wide, and completely unconvinced that this treat comes with no strings attached.
Anyone with a dog suspicious of bath time will probably recognize that look immediately. The comments certainly did. One viewer wrote, “My dobbie hates water too..he won’t even walk into the bathroom,” while another pointed straight to “those eyes and the airplane ears.” Someone else joked that in their house, the word “bath” is apparently “a cuss word.”
With 15,400 likes, the clip has clearly struck a nerve with plenty of fellow dog parents. And Mazikeen’s face explains why. She may love treats, but she is not about to forget that the bath water is running.
