Getting flowers is usually a pretty good sign that someone thinks you’re special, so Gus had every reason to feel optimistic. When a toddler walked into the yard carrying a bouquet, the Labrador Retriever eagerly came over to investigate. But just as Gus seemed ready to accept his floral tribute, the toddler made it clear those weren’t for him. She had someone else in mind, and the eventual reveal made the whole exchange even sweeter.

A video shared by @ashley_chosenwithjoy shows a toddler getting ready to make what she considers a very important flower delivery. She tells her mom that she wants to show Tiger her bouquet, and the text on the video reads, “She said, Tiger want to show my flowers! and he understood the assignment.”
Carrying her hand-picked flowers while wearing a cozy robe, the little girl heads outside into the family’s yard. She does not get very far before Gus, the family’s Labrador Retriever, notices her and comes over to see what she is carrying.
Gus appears to be quite interested in the bouquet, seemingly convinced that he might be the lucky recipient. The toddler, however, has other plans. She moves the dog aside and tells him that the flowers are not for him before continuing across the yard.
She then calls out for Tiger several times, and the reason for the confusion becomes clear when the camera reveals a kitten. The toddler carefully places the bouquet on the steps so the kitten can get a closer look.
Meanwhile, several of the kitten’s littermates gather around, seemingly just as curious about the flowers as their sibling. The toddler then sits beside the kittens, allowing the animals to investigate the bouquet while she enjoys the moment with them.
The caption shared alongside the video recalled how the toddler “just HAD to show Tiger her flowers” and described Tiger as sitting there “like the proudest little audience member.”
Naturally, viewers had plenty to say about Gus being rejected from the occasion. “Poor Gus. Somebody get him some flowers,” one person wrote. Another joked, “Aww …Tiger will soon come to show you his mouse,” imagining the kitten returning the favor with a gift of its own. A third added, “That ‘Not you’ was personal.”
