His tail starts wagging; he gives the volunteer kisses, splashes around in a tub of water, and keeps coming back for attention. Treats get his attention too. And there is an important detail the video’s caption reveals right away: Puddles has already been adopted!

The senior shelter dog is standing behind the metal bars of his kennel when the video begins. The in-video text reads, “Imagine spending 10 years loving someone… only to spend your golden years alone in a shelter.” Puddles looks sad, but when the volunteer gets his attention, his tail starts wagging. He even lets out a little bark.
Once he gets outside, there is a noticeable change. He sniffs around the yard, gives the volunteer some kisses, and happily accepts attention. Then he gets to play in a tub of water, splashing around before hopping out and heading straight back for more pets.
Puddles’ face looks brighter out there, and he keeps leaning in for more. Treat time gets an enthusiastic response, too. He takes the treats gently, smacks his lips afterward, and looks up as if another one might be available. Then he sits down and waits. Another treat arrives. So do more neck scratches.
At one point, the volunteer adjusts his bandana, and Puddles turns his face around with a relaxed, happy expression. He even gets curious about the treat bag, which does not escape his attention for long. The outing eventually ends, and Puddles is back behind his kennel bars. After seeing him outside, that part feels especially difficult.
But the caption brings a much better update about the senior dog getting adopted. The volunteer also describes him as a great example of what shelters can offer people looking for a calm, relaxed companion, encouraging others to “come find your senior friend.” That is exactly what happened for this senior shelter dog.
